Education Minister Prof. GL Peiris has announced that it has decided to reduce learning activities in schools to 150 days by 2021.

He was speaking to reporters at the Ministry of Education. He continued,

It has been decided to conduct the Advanced Level Examinations to be held in August this year on October 4 and the Ordinary Level Examinations to be held in December in January 2022.

This year’s Advanced Level Examinations will be held from October 4 to 30. Similarly the Ordinary Level Examinations will start in the last week of January 2022.

Similarly, the examination for the fifth grade scholarship is scheduled to be held on Sunday, October 3. Learning activities should be carried out in schools 200 days a year.

No national exams will be held in 2020 due to the impact of the Covid-19 virus.

The Ordinary Level Examination for 2020 was held last month. It has been decided to reduce the learning activities in schools to 150 days by 2021.

The Ordinary Level Examination for 2021 was expected to be held in early December this year. However, due to some unavoidable reasons, the examination has been postponed for a month.

Candidates appearing for the National Examinations for the year 2021 have been given sufficient time to prepare for the examination. He said students should make the best use of the time allotted.
